Founded in September 2020 by Paola Angelica Alvear, ALVEAR is a buying office and luxury retail service company with offices in Milan and Paris.
ALVEAR team of professionals supports luxury retailers with their strong network and unique expertise in a wide range of services from sourcing the most unique products and new talents, to managing market logistics, export, private label and photoshoots production. ALVEAR covers an extensive range of product categories from fashion to home décor and epicure in Europe.

THE FOUNDER

Born and raised in the United States, after graduating from Florida State University Panama Canal Campus, Paola moved to Italy to complete her studies, obtaining a master’s degree in International Economics and Management (MIEM) at SDA Bocconi.

Paola has worked in fashion for the last twenty years, beginning her career at Dolce Gabbana as a seller for the US market and then joining the European foreign buying office of the Neiman Marcus Group as Senior Market Manager for both Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus in 2004, and becoming soon after Italy’s Office Director until 2017. She then joined Mint, Paris based foreign buying office, representing leading luxury department stores in USA, Canada and Australia such as Saks Fifth Avenue, HBC and David Jones, with the role of European Account Executive for UK, France and Italy. In 2020 she then decided to found her own foreign buying office and luxury retail consulting company: ALVEAR. In time Paola has also brought forward tutoring activities in collaboration with Raise Fashion and Camera della Moda.

Sourcing and Scouting

Sourcing and scouting new talents, unique product collections and market trends in ready to wear, accessories, home décor, jewelry, beauty and fine gourmet food, attending all trade shows and events. ALVEAR team also takes care of negotiating exclusive agreements, payment terms and prices, working on behalf of the clients’ interest.

photoshoots production

Coordinating photoshoots from pre-production to delivery to ensure the fastest turnaround of images for online sales prioritizing budget optimization. ALVEAR leverages on its network to select the best production team, executes photo shoots production and post production to ensure that images are shot according to clients’ guidelines.

Market logistics

ALVEAR organizes the clients’ agenda at 360 degrees, offering a full-service treatment, from organizing executive business and buying meetings, scheduling showroom appointments and walk throughs, to requesting fashion week tickets and trade show badges, booking restaurants, and car services.

export

Managing export logistics for ex factory vendors in all product categories, offering a reliable full service, that includes: order reception to PO finalization, PO reception to in store delivery, samples shipments, quality control, defective claims, returns, reassortments and liason with the manufacturer, always acknowledging the importance of timely delivery.

private label

Product development of private label items for ready to wear, home décor and accessories. ALVEAR can suggest a wide range of top manufacturers and producers according to the need of the client. The team can then manage all stages of product development from design and research to sampling and production.

ALVEAR values and understands the importance of Very Important Clients and can be a reliable partner in planning and supporting retailers in designing their VIC agenda in Europe. Organizing unique experiences, booking hotels, photographers, car services and restaurants, requesting exclusive fashion week tickets and more.
